Multiaxial Weaving Process

Multiaxial reinforcements are layered unidirectional fabrics. It has been recognized that unidirectional reinforcements achieve the best strength properties, but most applications require strength in more than one direction. PPG joint venture with Devold AMT to produce layers of fabrics with varying orientation that can be knitted together to meet the properties required by for a specific application. It is also possible to add CSM mats or other reinforcements to be knitted together with the multiaxial, when necessary, i.e. for surface finishing and core adhesion.
